This July, Please Help The Ronald McDonald House of Columbia
Light a Light, Share a Night!
“It’s sad to say we did not know what the Ronald McDonald House was all about and what a Godsend it was until the day came when we needed them. Our son Blaine Gabriel was born three months premature weighing only 1 pound 11 ounces and 11 ¾ inches long. Our roller coaster ride began when Blaine was only one week old and had to be transferred almost three hours from our home in Longs, SC to Columbia.
"He has a perforation in his bowel and since then has had three surgeries. Blaine is now three months old and even though his stay in the hospital has been so very long, we know his fight is not over yet. Along with the three surgeries on his bowel, he’s also been through laser eye surgery and two very serious infections. He also has a blood clot in his heart and still needs the ventilator to help him breathe.
"The staff at the Ronald McDonald House has been nothing short of angels in our book. They are there to provide families like ours a home away from home in the most stressful times of our lives. The volunteers and staff take out time in their busy lives to show families like ours how much they care—by providing us with a room to sleep in, bathroom to shower in and food to eat because when you're in a situation like ours with a baby in the hospital, those are the last things you need to worry about. The Ronald McDonald staff makes it possible for us to visit our son every weekend and make our bad situation a little easier.”
