The Comp-N-Choke Team—Jeff Demmon, Sean O’Meara,
Stan Hillis and Doug Teston, both from Sylvania, GA—took
home the top honor of High Point Team with a score of 394
(out of 400). Ask yourself how they did it? O’Meara
and Teston both shot a perfect 100/100 targets with Demmon
and Hillis shooting a 96 and 98 respectively. O’Meara
and Teston, both A-Class shooters would break the tie with
a shoot-off.
That was the biggest story of the day—the shoot-off
for the overall High Point Individual and winner of the Lewis
Class Division A. Everyone jumped in a cart and headed
out to watch the shoot off—it was a scene to be watched. Carts
were filled with shooters of all ages eager to witness one
of the rarest outcomes in sporting clay tournaments. Does
it get any better than this? In the end, Teston won
the coin toss and deferred to O’Meara who stepped up
first. Hitting only one target, O’Meara was beaten
by the Georgian, Teston who faired only a little better by
shattering two targets.
Jeff Demmon, a competitive shooter, vice president for the
SCSCA and Tournament Committee Chairman said, “It is
a big deal to shoot 100/100. I have never seen it. To
have two people shoot 100 straight is unheard of. To
have them on the same squad says something about the team support.”
